Historical perspective of gender studies: a content analysis |

Résumé / Abstract : This paper examines the history of gender studies in management science, beginning with Persons (1915) whose focus on changes in women?s work and wage in the US during the period 1900 to 1910, to the forefront of gender research, and describing the main trends and evolution of gender studies research. This paper analyses gender studies over 4404 abstracts from articles published in leading and specialized academic journals during the last century. We use a content analysis to explore gender issues studied in management through a historical perspective. Evolution of research themes are described over time. The analysis focus more specifically on the last fifty years and discusses the institutionalization of gender studies, the evolution, recognition, definition and maturity of the field questioning the potential declining interest of equity and discrimination issues.
